Hunger and malnutrition are major problems faced by human beings at the beginning of the 21st century. Although these problems have undergone great changes throughout history, these long-standing issues have become customary and even provide arguments for leaders to avoid dealing with them. We are often surprised by the analysis of these problems and the oversimplified solutions put forward and implemented by politicians at both national and the international levels. That is why we have decided to discuss the causes behind the problems based on the real situation of farmers in the world today and the existence of different systems of agriculture. These systems have been placed under competition in the framework of economic liberalisation, resulting in a “machine which produce poverty and hunger”. We will clearly point out the current and future needs for food and nutrition; then we will raise two central themes: food sovereignty and governance by citizens. Lastly, we will make six suggestions with detailed prospects and we will conclude with the international impact of these suggestions.
